The Tripsy Tipsy Gypsies, featuring three of the country’s most formidable musicians, will hit the stage at Flamingos in Lambton this October.

The three players, Pete Hawkes, George Washingmachine and Christian Marsh, will bring their one-off Australian tour to Newcastle with a set list that promises to move from lilting gypsy jazz fiddle and thundering Celtic reels to blues harmonica and slide guitar.

Hawkes, a highly regarded composer and performer, sits firmly at the centre of a musical collision. He’s worked with artists like Joe Cocker, Phil Emmanuel, Bert Jansch and Dave Swarbrick and has built an international career with his distinctive approach to guitar and composition.

Alongside him on stage for the tour is George Washingmachine, one of Australia’s most respected jazz fiddle players and a musician whose career has taken him around the world. Known for his gypsy swing and blues-infused playing, Washingmachine is also a multi-instrumentalist and seasoned entertainer.

Completing the trio is Christian Marsh, an acclaimed chromatic and diatonic harmonica player and three-time Gold Harmonica Award winner in Tamworth, who has worked alongside harmonica greats including Howard Levy, Larry Adler and Toots Thielemans.

Remarkably, it’s the first time Hawkes, Washingmachine and Marsh have collaborated together as one unit, bringing decades of individual experience to a show built around improvisation, musicianship and three very different musical personalities.

Pete Hawkes, George Washingmachine and Christian Marsh will be joined by some very special guests on the night too!

The Tripsy Tipsy Gypsies take over Flamingos in Lambton on Sunday, 11 October. For more information and tickets, visit flamingos.live.
