Thirsty Merc involved in a fatal car crash

news.com.au has reported that members of Thirsty Merc and their crew were involved in a fatal car crash in Victoria yesterday. It is believed the deceased man was the band’s stage manager.

Thirsty Merc drummer Mick Skelton was also seriously injured in the crash and is currently at the  Alfred Hospital in intensive care.

The music.com.au said frontman Rai Thistlethwayte, bassist Phil Stack and guitarist Matt Smith were travelling in separate vehicles and were uninjured.

Thirsty Merc are currently touring in support of new album Shifting Gears.

The band’s gig at the The Loft in Warrnambool last night was cancelled and the future of the tour, stopping in at Belmont 16’s on November 7, remains unclear.
