The THIS THAT festival will throw open the gates this Saturday at Camp Shortland on the Newcastle Foreshore. Billed as “the future of music events in the region” the festival will showcase “the emergence of the hipster revolution in Newcastle” and serve as a meeting place for the “culturally savvy festival goer”. If you have no idea what any of that means, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s our ultimate guide to the THIS THAT festival.

The event is officially sold out. BUT, a limited number of GA tickets will become available to purchase. You should click this link if you’re keen to find out more. Remember that it is a 18+ Event. Proof of Age identification will be required and wristbands will be issued for those wishing to purchase alcohol at the event and all those who enter the event.

The event will be held at Camp Shortland. Organisers have urged festival goers to use public transport.

Catching the train or bus? 

From Sydney or Maitland, jump on a train and head to Hamilton Station. Our advice is that once you’re there, jump on a bus at the temporary interchange and head to Newcastle Station. From there you can enjoy the walk up to Camp Shortland.  Extra ‘Special Event Bus Services’ will be running all day in addition to the standard train services between Hamilton Station and The Foreshore.

Grabbing a taxi?

A taxi rank will be provided adjacent to Newcastle Station on Scott Street where private vehicles can drop off and pickup from before, during and after the event.These will both be located toward the Watt Street intersection along Enterprise Park.


There is a ‘Public Set Down Area’ adjacent to Newcastle Station on Scott Street where private vehicles can drop off and pickup from before, during and after the event. These will both be located toward the Watt Street intersection along Enterprise Park.

Sirromet Wines will be pouring some of the best wine the vines have produced.

Young Henrys will be tapping some yummy kegs of their Natural Lager and serving cans ofReal Ale and Henry’s Cider.

Six String Brewery will be showcasing their Golden Ale, the Gambler and pumping out Golden Ale cans.
