The annual Mattara Festival kicks off this this weekend (Sept 26) and runs until Monday the 5th of October. With so much to see and do over the 10 day festival we thought we’d do the work for you and pick out the best of the best. So here it is, The Ultimate Guide To The Mattara Festival.

The Lego Arena
TIME: All Day
Frontline Hobbies and the Lego Brand have combined forces with Mattara in creating The Lego Arena! An area the children can enter free, to not only look over some of the Wonderful creations made onsite. They can get in and make their very own Lego creation. Competitions are held daily at 1pm for the Creation of the day prizes.
Dial a DJ Demon show
TIME: 1pm
The stage show not to be missed! And a great chance to get on stage and win some great prizes.

Movie Car Mania
TIME: All day with photo opportunities 11am & 1pm

Hat Making Workshop

A great day to come along and join in on the Hat Making Workshops being held on site this year create our own hat and enter the Hat Parade being held on stage at 1pm.
Michael AhMazing

Michael AhMazing is one of Australia’s Premier Balloon Artists and Children’s Magicians. Specializing in Advanced Balloon Art, Michael has made it his mission over the last decade or so, to change the world’s opinion of the humble Balloon Animal, one twist at a time. Performing Exciting and Hilarious stage shows, One of a kind creations or just entertaining the masses, Michael Leaves the crowds ‘AhMazed’ and begging for more. With multiple balloon related World Records and Awards, Michaels work truly has to be seen to be believed.

Komiti Levai Band Live

National Music Academy

Live Local Entertainment into the afternoon with the National Music Academy.

Character meet and greet

Don’t forget to keep your eyes open for all the wonderful children’s Characters walking around the park throughout every day at Mattara looking for new friends to play with. Take a chance to get up close and get your photo taken with your favorite Characters.

The Crawford Brothers Live
TIME: 3:00pm
Since representing Australia at the Global Battle of the Bands in Thailand last year, Hinton pop- rock group Crawford Brothers have been hard at work on their debut EP. The band’s driving force is brothers Ben and Zac Crawford, aged 24 and 20, who for the past decade have been rocking crowds in their bands Powerage and Jupiter Menace. Their new project leans towards modern pop – the big riffs are still present but they are fused with slick pop hooks and elements of hip hop.
Sport & Fitness clinics
TIME: All Day
Come along and try out the many of Newcastle’s Sport and Fitness Clinics held on the park throughout the whole day, that’s right a day of Junior Sport & Fitness activities on the park FREE!

Dance of Life Belly Dancers
TIME: 1:30pm
he Dance of Life offers classes in Gypsy style belly dance and Arabic percussion. There is also a bellydance boutique at the studio selling a variety of gypsy and tribal costumes etc. The main dance focus of the school is traditional Gypsy belly dance, which is the origin of most other styles of this genre of dance. Cabaret, Tribal and Fusion all find their roots in the dances of the gypsies and desert tribes of North Africa and the Middle East. The school also boasts a professional Dance Troupe with the Dance Of Life Drummers. The Dance Of Life is well known and well received throughout Australia.

Food Fiesta
