Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Lachlan X. Morris (LXM) is a master purveyor of psych-tinged power pop. He weaves intriguing retro elements into his contemporary songs to create a sound uniquely his, a sound that has a wide appeal, to young and older alike.

His 4th album Muscle Memory is well worth the listen. Stellar tracks like the psych-monster โ€˜Pick Up The Knifeโ€™, the deliciously whimsical โ€˜Supermoonโ€™, the royal rock-riffery of โ€˜Pullinโ€™ Teethโ€™ and the wonderfully named โ€˜Baby, I Want To Hold You (Accountable)โ€™ are just some of the exquisite gems on this album. While not on Muscle Memory, you should also check out โ€˜Shadow Loverโ€™, the mighty โ€˜God Damnโ€™, and the light/dark paradox of โ€˜Gotta Get Downโ€™ and more.

Morris likes to explore musical paths and has sojourned into country for a spell with a jaunty little track called โ€˜Rocky Roadโ€™. He also takes the trip into the Blues with a song aptly entitled โ€˜Blood, Rhythm n Bluesโ€™, with its infectious guitar hook.

His most recent single is โ€˜Sound Of Speedโ€™, delivered in 2022 but the man has new music about to come out. Weโ€™ll get to that.

One of THE stand-out gigs in 2022 was LXM at The Stag. We donโ€™t know how he did it but it was strange yet delightfully akin to watching your very favourite artist at a stadium. We know thatโ€™s hard to believe but you just had to be there. It was transcendent. The band was hot, on fire as they performed their way through a night that somehow mixed nostalgia and right-now energy to deliver a gig that will remain much more than a muscle memory.

NEXT GIG:
