THE BIG FIVE-0: Cold Chisel bring anniversary tour to Newcastle

Cold Chisel is set to bring their massive 50th anniversary tour to Newcastle this November.

The Big Five-0 tour will celebrate all the hits from Khe Sanh, Cheap Wine, Flame Trees and You Got Nothin’ I Want to fan favourites like When The War Is Over, Last Wave Of Summer, Saturday Night and Breakfast At Sweethearts.

“There have been plenty of times where I never thought I’d live to see this day so I’m going to make the most of it,” frontman Jimmy Barnes said.

“I can’t wait to celebrate with my mates and with all the fans who have been such a big part of our story. We’re gonna smash it!”

The 50th birthday will actually kick off in Armidale, where Cold Chisel were based in the mid-’70s.

“We’ll be going all out to celebrate a milestone birthday like this. Bookending the tour in the two places where we first welded the band together,” piano player and chief songwriter Don Walker said.

The band will also release a Best Of album in August, just ahead of the tour kicking off. The 25 song, double-vinyl set will come in a range of special vinyl editions and a double-CD set.
