Are you a lover of spicy ramen?
Well, good news as Newcastle eatery, Susuru is bringing back its delicious Tantanmen, by popular demand, for a limited time, and by all accounts, promises to be the restaurant’s boldest and best tantanmen yet!.
What is tantanmen?
If you are unfamiliar with this delicacy, tantanmen is a ramen dish that originated in the province of Sichuan in China in the early 19th century.
It was adapted by the Sichuan-born Japanese chef Mr. Chen Kenmin and it has become the spicy staple at ramen restaurants throughout the country.
What’s so special about Susuru’s tantanmen?
Susuru’s tantamen is based on its salty chicken broth and is then topped with mouth-watering chilli pork mince, pickled Brazilian kiss pepper, chilli hair, shallots and sesame oil.
This combination packs a good punch itself, but for the braver souls you can order a side of Carolina Reaper chilli paste that will definitely set your bowl on fire!
There is no doubt that Newcastle is truly lucky to have a great ramen joint like Susuru given that once, punters would have had to travel to Sydney for the genuine experience.
