Take That relighted a fire in the thousands of fans who followed their boy band idols to the Hunter Valley for the first A Day On The Green for what is sure to be another sparkling summer season of great music and memorable times set amongst the vines at Bimbadgen Estate.
Great wine, food, and good vibes are synonymous with the A Day On The Green festival series but there was something magnetic, and something special in the air from the time the gates opened for this one. The hordes of adoring fans, loads who had travelled from the United Kingdom, some wearing their matching, sequined and bedazzled outfits, and armed with hand-made signs of adoration, were pumped and ready to party.
The excitement spilled over to the support acts who seemed just as pumped to see Take That, as they were to be part of a solid line-up of pop artists.

Melbourne-based duo Dacy opened up the day playing pop songs reminiscent of the 90s pop scene, even throwing in some well-crafted mash-ups including Take That numbers to the delight of the crowd.
Aussie songstress Riki Lee impressed and sparkled in her flowing silver outfit, putting her powerful voice to good use performing a mix of singles and covers including The Best by Tina Turner and The Voice by the voice himself, John Farnham.

As the sun set on another beautiful day in the Hunter Valley, 90s favourite Sophie Ellis Bexter brought another level of excitement to an already buoyant crowd. Looking like a burst of sunshine in her short sunflower yellow dress and sequenced knickers, the Murder of the Dance Floor pop star humbly told the crowd her job was merely there as a warm-up act for Take That. Then she proceeded to wow the crowd who were up and dancing, even in the aisles of the seated area, for her whole set.

By the time the Take That trio took to the Bimbadgen stage the crowd was at peak excitement, and roared and squealed in delight when Howard Donald, Gary Barlow and Mark Owen, sashayed their way into their hearts, and took their devoted audience on a journey through their extensive back catalogue of hits, from the 90s including Relight My Fire, and radio favourite Back For Good, their beautiful cover of the Bee Gees classic How Deep Is Your Love, to newer singles like This Life, all while wearing matching outfits, some outfit changes, and doing the familiar Take That dance moves.
Even if boy bands and pop music were not your thing, it was hard not to be swept away with the excitement and unbridled love of the fans for their band who sang every word along with Take That and performed crowd choreography in unison without being prompted. It was a wild kind of communion and another wonderful A Day On The Green moment that will be hard to forget.
