HOTTER THAN HADES: Susuru ups the heat with Chilli Scoville Tan Tan ramen

Looking for a way to keep those winter chills at bay? Well, you might want to make a beeline to Susuru this month.

That’s because the East End eatery has turned up the heat for its July ramen special – offering up a flaming bowl of awesomeness in the form of The Chilli Scoville Tan Tan.

For those playing at home a Tan Tan (or tantanmen) is a type of ramen noodle soup based on the Chinese dish Dan Dan Mian.

Unlike a pork or chicken-based broth a Tan Tan ramen uses a sesame-based broth for its foundation and Susuru’s sesame chilli broth is sure to ignite those taste buds.

Add to that a healthy helping of garlic chives. bean sprouts and pork mince or king brown mushrooms (and add some fried tofu, because, why not?) for the vegos and vegans, and you’ve got yourself a chilli-lover’s delight.

Oh, and this bad boy comes in three heat levels – hot, evil or shinigami, which literally translates to ‘death god’ or ‘death spirit’!

Challenge accepted and our brows are getting clammy just thinking about it.

So, if you’re keen to put your tastebuds to the test, get a bowl of this chill killer and see how much heat you can handle. Be quick though because this one is only available this month.
