MUSIC, PODCASTS & PEOPLE: Our brand new program lineup and streaming schedule

At the start of next month, we’ll be launching our new program lineup and streaming schedule for 2023.

We’ve been looking at all the data coming in over the last year and listening to your feedback on what we’ve been streaming. Our plan is to focus on the three main things you love about listening to Newcastle Live…

Music, podcasts and people

We were blown away by your response to our City Sounds local music series, thanks to Spiegeltent Newcastle, so we’ve decided to keep the good times rolling with a playlist stacked full of tasty local tunes. In fact, 80% of what we’ll play on the stream from now on will be music made by people right here in Newcastle and the Hunter.

From the acts that put Newcastle on the musical map to emerging artists from the local scene – They’re all in the new playlist. We’ll also spin you some great Australian music and tracks from artists touring here in Newcastle and around the country.

The data we’ve collected overwhelmingly indicates that this is how you like to listen to our programming, so we’re doubling down by making more podcasts and playing them in full on the live stream throughout the day.

We’ve reworked some of the shows from last year, and added new ones that we think you’re going to love. You’ll be able to subscribe to your favourites and try out the new ones live on the stream across the week.

From our program hosts to the people we interview and the artists that play live in the studio – you love hearing from the people we feature on Newcastle Live. So we’re going to give you more access to them.

Over the coming months, you’ll find new ways to interact with our hosts and we’ll give you behind-the-scenes access via our Stream Team and the videos we’ll be publishing.
