US kings of drop-D heaviness, Helmet will wage an aural assault on Newcastle this May.
Yep, that’s right. page Hamilton and co will be heading to the Cambridge on Wednesday 6 May in what promises to be one helluva show!
The alt.metal pioneers announced a 30th anniversary Oz tour back in November last year and with shows selling out all over the shop they have seen fit to add four extra shows, including Newcastle to the itinerary!
The tour is dubbed 30 Years, 30 Songs, No Openers, and promises to provide exactly what it says on the tin – all Helmet all the time.
The show promises to traverse the long and storied history of the NYC noisemakers, from their incendiary 1990 debut Strap it On to their most recent effort, 2016’s Dead To The World.
For the uninitiated, Helmet have been pushing musical boundaries for the last three decades, fusing a complex jazz-like sensibility with a total sonic assault thanks in no small part to the formidable fretwork of main man Page Hamilton.
As a guitarist Page’s influence is undeniable, his dedication to the craft has resulted in a brutally precise player possessing the ability to throw mind-bending time signatures, monumental mathcore riffs and face-melting leads.
Helmet will play The Cambridge Hotel on Wednesday 6 May. Get your tickets NOW!
