Stooged Theatre will head back to the Civc Playhouse next week to present their production, Blood Bank.
The waiting room of a hospital. Is there anywhere worse in this world?
Michael is waiting to give blood. His brother Justin is waiting for a transfusion. Abbey is just, well, waiting. They don’t know it yet, but they desperately need each other. In the most unlikely of meeting places, they slowly trade secrets – and a surprising love story emerges.
Christopher Harley’s Blood Bank comes to the Civic Playhouse for several performances from Wednesday 10 August to Saturday 13 August. The production is the Newcastle premiere of Blood Bank and is offered as part of the Civic Theatre’s subscription Season 2016.
Christopher Harley (In A Pink Tutu, Remembering Pirates) is a Newcastle playwright on the rise. Now, after its Sydney premiere at the Ensemble Theatre in 2015, Stooged Theatre brings Christopher’s beautiful, moving script Blood Bank home to Newcastle.
Director Carl Young (Between Two Waves) teams up with a powerhouse ensemble of Glen Waterhouse (The Removalists), Elise Bialek (Proof) and Janet Gillam (Checklist for an Armed Robber) for a romantic comedy that promises to make audiences laugh and cry.
A home-grown hit, this tale of family, grief and love is simply not to be missed.
