Sound Station Festival postponed amid COVID-19 concerns

The Newcastle Live Music Taskforce and Soundstation have made the decision to postpone its Music & Arts Festival due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Organisers of the festival, to originally be held on 4 April, will now reschedule the event for Spring 2020 at The Station, Newcastle. The choice to postpone was made to ensure the safety of both attendees and artists.

Live Music Taskforce Chair and Member for Newcastle Tim Crakanthorp said postponing Sound Station was the responsible and right thing to do.

“Our local live music and hospitality industries will feel the impact of COVID-19, so it will be really important to get behind them later in the year when Sound Station goes ahead. Although Sound Station won’t be happening until Spring, I’m still looking forward to seeing our fantastic local musos and celebrating the talent we have in our city.”

The good news is that everyone who jumped online to get a free ticket will still be registered for the event on the new, yet to be announced, date. The festival also plans to move forward with the current artist line-up and are encouraging live music lovers to support the industry in any way they can.
