The boffins over at Rascal are back with another DOOZY of a burger special this week that is sure to have hip-hop fans salivating.
Yep, that’s right the Newcastle and Charlestown eatery is paying tribute to famed burger hounds and legends of the genre The Beastie Boys with a trio of tantalising mini burgers.
In a brilliant nod to Mike D, Ad Rock and MCA’s unabashed love of all things White Castle, Rascal has produced three sliders – a staple of the famed US burger chain.
So, this time around you will have the choice of either the classic cheeseburger slider, the fried chicken jalapeño and buffalo ranch slider and the BBQ bacon and egg cheeseburger slider.
And each one looks even more delicious than the last.
It comes as no surprise that the Beastie Boys legacy should be remembered this way, given their love for all things burgers.
On their seminal debut long-player Licence to Ill, the enfant teribles of East Coast hip hop made no less than five references to White Castle on the tracks The New Style (I chill at White Castle ‘coz it’s the best), Girls (I can always make ’em smile/from White Castle to the Nile) Hold It Now Hit It (Got the Ladies of the ’80s from here to White Castle), Slow Ride (We went to White Castle and got thrown out) and Slow and Low ( We got determination, bass and highs/white castle fries only come in one size.)
The Beasties also have an association with our fair city, too having torn the roof of the Entertainment Centre in 1999 and two years prior when they gave the Cambridge one of the most raucous shows it has ever hosted when they hit the West End venue’s stage under the name Quasaar.
Rascal is located at 266 King St, Newcastle and The Corner Precinct, Charlestown Square.
