Skate enthusiasts in Thornton and beyond have a brand-new space to hone their skills, with Maitland City Council officially unveiling the new Thornton Skate Park on Taylor Avenue.

The $600,000 facility has been designed with input from the local community and aims to provide a dynamic and inclusive recreation space for skaters of all levels.

The park boasts an impressive array of features, including a halfpipe with a spine and box jump, a kinked floating ledge, a vert wall, flat banks, rails, and more. These elements cater to a mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced skaters, ensuring that everyone from casual riders to seasoned pros can make the most of the space.

Replacing the former Thornton Skate Park, which had reached the end of its lifespan, the new facility represents a significant upgrade. The space is expected to become a well-loved gathering point for skaters from Thornton, Chisholm, and surrounding areas.

In addition to the skate park itself, Council has also completed tidy-up works on the adjoining playspace and basketball court. These improvements add further recreational opportunities for locals, making the area a vibrant hub for outdoor activity.

The new Thornton Skate Park is located at 1 Taylor Ave, Thornton and offers a modern and well-equipped facility that will serve the area for years to come. You can find out more information about the skate park and see some other pics at mait.city/ThorntonSkatePark.
