SILLY-YAK: Helping young people with Coeliac Disease

Newcastle’s Alexandra Mangano has been living with Coeliac Disease along with two other autoimmune conditions since she was 13. Before her diagnosis, she lived a healthy lifestyle only seeing her family GP once a year for checkups and flu shots.

In 2011 her long and exhausting ten-year health adventure, a truly life-changing experience not only for her lifestyle but her career, began. On the tenth anniversary of diagnosis, Alexandra has written, illustrated and released a children’s book called SILLY-YAK. The aim of the book is to help empower young kids with Coeliac Disease.

Alexandra talks with Tracy Mac on Newcastle in the morning. Listen back below…
