The songbook of one of the most formidable vocalists in popular music history – Aretha Franklin – will be celebrated in a special show at Belmont 16s next month.
Responsible for such iconic and genre-defining hits as Natural Woman, Respect, Chain Of Fools, Think and literally oodles more, Aretha is the undisputed Queen of Soul and was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock And Roll.
To pay homage to this incredible entertainer, home-grown talent Shauna Jensen will revisit Aretha’s formidable catalogue with a scintillating nine-piece band.
And when it comes to knowing her way around a stage, Shauna is certainly no slouch, having toured and recorded with the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Powderfinger, Richard Clapton and Noiseworks.
She was also a cast member of Jesus Christ Superstar and appeared on the original Australian cast recording in 1972.
In later years, Shauna offered her sage advice as a judge on the fourth season of the now-defunct reality show Popstars.
