We don’t know why, but we can’t stop looking at our new favourite Instagram account, @shameonmaitland. At the time of writing this post, the account had only been live for 19 hours, but the admin (or admins) had already uploaded over 20 images of abandoned shopping trolleys around Maitland… And we can’t look away.
We acknowledge that the purpose of the page is a serious one – “Drawing attention to the ridiculous amount of abandoned shopping trolleys around town. A responsibility for the supermarkets, but for the council too”, but there’s something aesthetically pleasing and artistic about these filtered images of lonely trolleys in often bleak settings.
