The wonderful Katie Brianna will join a slew of talent for the September Showdown at the Stag and Hunter

SAVE THE DATE: There’s gonna be a September Showdown at the Stag!

It was supposed to be an egg crackingly brilliant Easter show but as we all know very little in 2020 has gone according to plan.

And the good folks over at Stanley Records and Mother Hen Touring realise that you can’t keep a good thing down – even in the face of a global pandemic.

While we didn’t get to see the planned Easter Showdown at the Stag and Hunter Hotel, a quick re-name to September Showdown and we’re good to go!

And what a showdown to be had with some of Stanley Records leading lights taking to the Stag stage for what promises to be a night of top quality tunes.

There is a solid Novocastrian contingent on this bill, too with the brilliant Ben Leece and Left of The Dial leading the charge.

We are still loving Ben’s 2018 debut No Wonder The World Is Exhausted (a title that is more apt with each passing day) and his latest release the Hank Vol 2 7″ which features the brilliant single Paper Thin is definitely one to write home about.

Also on the bill will be Novocastrian ex-pat Katie Brianna, also in full band mode, who will bring a touch of rock and pop sensibility to proceedings with her anticipated album This Way Or Some Other likely to feature in this set.

Led by the brilliant single Boots the album is a bit of a departure for Katie, straddling indie rock and pop, roots and old fashioned rock and roll.

If a bit of cowpunk is more your speed, some of Sydney’s finest exponents of the genre – Dave Favours & The Roadside Ashes will add a welcome touch of raucousness to the bill.

With influences ranging from Exile-era Stones, Drive By Truckersm and Lucero, to Husker Du, The Johnnys and The Replacements, these guys are sure to serve up a heady brew.

Last but certainly not least, punters will be treated to the very first hit-out for a newly minted duo featuring the formidable talents of Re-Mains frontman Mick Daley and Dennis Boys Band boy Lyle Dennis which promises to be one hell of a set.

Catch the September Showdown at the Stag and Hunter on Saturday 19 September. Get your tickets here. Obviously tickets are limited so, get in quick!
