She’s the iconic pop chanteuse who convinced us that heaven was a place on earth back in 1987.
And Belinda Carlisle will be heading back Down Under in 2022 to celebrate her remarkable and hit-laden 35-year solo career, and the 11-date Decades tour will roll into the Civic Theatre on Wednesday 23 February 2022.
No stranger to our part of the world, Belinda was last in Newcastle in 2019 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her acclaimed, smash hit record Runaway Horses.
Belinda first burst onto the scene as lead vocalist for the seminal all-female band The Go-Gos. whose debut long-player Beauty and the Beat is considered as one of the cornerstones of the US New Wave movement.
They made history as the first all-female band who wrote their own songs and played their own instruments to top the Billboard charts and thanks to such hits as Our Lips Are Sealed, We Got The Beat and Vacation, went on to sell seven million albums worldwide
After the band’s breakup in 1985, Belinda embarked on a hugely successful solo career that spawned such massive hits as Mad About You, I Get Weak, Heaven Is A Place On Earth, Leave A Light On, and Summer Rain.
Belinda’s hit albums continued into the ’90s with Live Your Life, Be Free, Real, and A Woman And A Man. She has continued to release music in the last few years with her latest offering, 2017s Wilder Shores marrying the disparate worlds of pop and Sikh chants, influenced by her practice of Kundalini yoga.
