Summer just got a hell of a lot more rockin’.
That’s because the legendary Cold Chisel will be heading our way this January as part of their massive Blood Moon 2020 Tour!
Yep, that’s right, Jimmy and the boys will be heading to Hope Estate on Saturday 18 January and they’ll be bringing Birds of Tokyo and Busby Marou along for the ride.
Astonishingly, since their now legendary Last Stand Tour back in 1983, Cold Chisel has only embarked on four national tours since.
Further, each of these was staged at indoor venues and not over the holiday season, which is what makes this show even more unmissable.
“We’ve only done four tours since the early 80’s so we need to make each of them count,” Jimmy Barnes said.
“We knew that if we were going to get the band back together for another full tour it would have to be something really special. We wanted great line-ups and unusual places so that people would remember these gigs for a long, long time.”
The tour is named after a rare lunar eclipse where the sun, earth, and moon all briefly align – a perfect metaphor no doubt.
“You might get to see a blood moon once in your life”, Chisel songwriter and piano player, Don Walker said. “Apparently there’s going to be one just before dawn when we’re in Melbourne on this tour but we didn’t actually know that when we chose the name. Maybe it’s a sign.”
The band’s classic songs like Khe Sanh, Flame Trees, Bow River, My Baby, Cheap Wine, Saturday Night and You Got Nothing I Want have become the soundtrack to our summers. so it makes sense that this summer be filled with as much Chisel as possible!
Cold Chisel will play Hope Estate on Saturday 18 January.
