When it comes to writing hookier than a fisherman’s tacklebox power pop, there are few bands who do it as well as Everclear.
The band cut a glorious swathe through the introspective nihilism of ’90s grunge with such tracks as Santa Monica, Heroin Girl and Heartspark Dollar Sign.
Well, guess what? They’re heading to the Cambo in January for what promises to be one heck of a show.
After piquing some interest with their debut record World Of Noise, a label bidding war erupted over the Portland, Oregon band with Capital Records eventually winning the day.
The resulting album Sparkle And Fade, and in particular its second single Santa Monica, catapulted Art Alexis and co from the indie-rock milieu straight into the global rock stratosphere.
Everclear followed up with their most successful album to date, So Much For The Afterglow, and have gone on to release six studio albums since,
Despite the band not releasing any new material since 2015’s Black Is The New Black, Everclear has not let up in the touring stakes so you can rest assured that it will be a well oiled Everclear machine that hits the Cambo stage this summer!
Catch Everclear at the Cambridge Hotel on Thursday 30 January. Get your tickets here.
