Get those falsettos at the ready!
Norwegian pop powerhouse a-ha will be coming to the Hunter next year as part of their first Australian and New Zealand tour in 34 years!
The Take On Me hitmakers will play Bimbadgen on Saturday 29 February and as an extra special treat, they will be bringing the one and only Rick Astley!
If that wasn’t enough, to make it even more of a pop extravaganza, our very own Funky Town stars Pseudo Echo and current popmeisters I Know Leopard will also be coming along for the ride!
A-ha, featuring the incomparable vocals of Morten Harket, will be ripping through their breakthrough debut album Hunting High And Low which featured the Aussie number one Take On Me, and follow up its The Sun Always Shines On TV, and Train Of Thought in full to celebrate its 35th anniversary as well as other favourites from across their career.
“We have so many great memories of our Australian tour of 1986 and look forward to making new ones. And we can’t wait to play in New Zealand for the first time – we’ll be comparing your fjords with our Norwegian ones,” guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy said.
Still an icon of the genre after all these years, the music video for Take On Me won six MTV Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, was nominated for Grammy and American Music Awards and is approaching one billion views on YouTube.
Oh and speaking of pop stars who dominated the ’80s Rick Astley is certainly no slouch, having sold 40 million albums worldwide thanks to such dance-floor fillers as Never Gonna Give You Up, Whenever You Need Somebody, and Together Forever.
He also became a massive internet phenomenon thanks to the viral meme known as Rick Rolling.
Catch a-ha, Rick Astley, Pseudo Echo and I Know Leopard at A Day On The Green, Bimbadgen Estate on Saturday 29 February. Tickets on sale from 11am on Friday 26 July.
