It’s the delicious Easter treat that has been appearing on supermarket shelves earlier and earlier each year.
And now it seems the humble hot cross bun will be available at Coles for 12 months of the year.
News.com.au reported that the supermarket chain would be offering the seasonal confection throughout Australia from today!
“Some things are just too good to not enjoy all year round. For many people, that includes a delicious hot cross bun,” Coles category manager for in-store bread, Freddie Hancock, told the publication.
He added that the decision was borne out of a groundswell of public pressure.
“For weeks — and in some instances for months — our bakers were being asked by customers if we were still baking hot cross buns. So, we’ve made the decision to meet this demand by trialing a four-pack of hot cross buns available throughout the year,” Mr Hancock said.
Traditionally, the spiced sweet bun was eaten between Shrove Tuesday and Good Friday here in Australia and other parts of the world as a way to mark the end of Lent, with the cross representing the crucifixion of Jesus.
But now you can get your fix whenever the mood strikes in what is a big win for bun fans everywhere.
