After years of COVID-enforced silence, one of the state’s most respected band competitions, Rockin’ the Puburbs is back for 2022!
Organisers are now calling for entry’s from bands across the state to play heats in Tamworth, the Illawarra, Central West and the hunter.
Like in previous years, entries will be open to any New South Wales based pub act. Bands will also need to perform at least an original song.
“Many of Australia’s top music acts first got their start down at their local and this competition is our way of giving back and supporting the next generation of local talent,” Australian Hoteliers Association NSW CEO, John Whelan said.
“COVID had a huge and debilitating impact on live music venues over the past two years and this is one way we can help artists return to the stage and get our pubs rocking again.”
This year 20 semi-finalists will be chosen to perform in one of five ‘battle-of-the-bands’ events in pubs across NSW.
Bands have until Thursday, 15 September 2022 to submit their application to play the local heat at The Stag & Hunter Hotel in Newcastle on Sunday, 13 November 2022.
All applications to Rockin’ the Puburbs competition must be submitted at rockinthepuburbs.com.au.
