It’s time to get pedalling and Ride For Sick Kids so Ronald McDonald House can continue to give families, with seriously ill children in hospital, a home away from home.
By signing up as an individual, with a friend or workmates this September, your pedal power can make a massive difference to people who are going through one of the most dramatic experiences they’ve ever had.
Your contribution to this year’s Ride For Sick Kids will go directly to helping children like six-year-old Aviana who was diagnosed with high-risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and had to travel far from her Scone home to John Hunter Childrenโs hospital.
Ronald McDonald House has been her home ever since, with her dad Locky staying right by her side. While Aviโs mum, Nikki is keeping daily life going for her other children she regularly makes the two-hour commute to visit.
“This house is the lifeline for families like mine who live in remote communities. You’re experiencing the worst time of your life, scared to death walking out of the hospital. To know we could be a family together at Ronald McDonald House meant the world, for us and Avi,” mum Nikki said.
By staying at Ronald McDonald House Aviana’s family can be together while she receives treatment.
Staying together gives everyone some level of normality and the reassurance of being so close to the hospital. The House has everything the family needs and they know Avi is safe from infections as she undergoes her chemotherapy.
