Ricky Albeck is bringing his raucous blend of post-pub rock and alt-country to the Hunter, with the Adelaide songwriter set to play The Grand Junkyard as part of his upcoming Summer Tour.

The tour comes alongside the release of Albeck’s new single, Playing Pool and Drinking All Night, the first taste of his second album, which is due out later this year via independent label Bedroom Suck Records.

The noisy rocker combines feedback-heavy guitars with alt-country twang, capturing the messy energy that has become a hallmark of Albeck’s sound.

The new single draws on Albeck’s memories of spending his early 20s at Adelaide’s Crown & Anchor Hotel, where nights revolved around playing gigs, working at the pub, drinking and, inevitably, playing pool until closing time.

Beneath the fun and excess, the song also explores the darker side of those years and the question of whether all that partying was an escape from something else.

Recorded live at Twin Earth in South Australia with The Belair Line Band, the track was produced by Robert Muiños, whose credits include Julia Jacklin, Rowena Wise and Matt Dixon.

The band’s lineup features Ella Ion on backing vocals, Harry Freeman on drums, Tom Spall on violin, Jackson Wright on bass and Alex Dearman on guitar, with Edo Ekic adding a third guitar.

Albeck has built a reputation for autobiographical songwriting that mixes metaphor, satire and plenty of humour, while still leaving room for genuine emotional weight.

His debut album Nocturnal, released in 2024, reached number three on both the AIR Independent Albums Chart and ARIA Australian Country Albums Chart, while his previous releases have seen him tour extensively across Australia, as well as the US, UK and Europe.

Ricky Albeck and The Belair Line Band play The Grand Junkyard, Maitland, on Friday, 27 November 2026, as part of the Summer Tour, with special guests to be announced. Tickets are on sale now via linktr.ee/rickyalbeck.
