Hey Newcastle dog lovers! The Honeysuckle Hotel will be opening the doors to our city’s fur babies for an event aimed at raising awareness of dog adoption.
The Pound Paws Dog Day will put people in contact with local dog rescue groups such as Dog Rescue Newcastle, Hunter Animal Rescue, Bull Terrier Rescue Inc, and RSPCA NSW, and you will also have the chance to meet some gorgeous rescue dogs.
The day will also feature a range of doggo-friendly activities guaranteed to get some tails wagging.
You can expect some fantastic ‘fur-tographer’ shoots, holistic pet therapy treatments, dog food tastings (for your four-legged friend, of course), doggie grooming, poochie portraits, and a range of paw-some pet stalls.
If your dog is a bit of a show-pony well, they’ll be well catered for too with best dressed and best dog trick competitions.
The event is organised by Aussie charity Pound Paws who have made it their mission to reduce the number of pets on ‘death row’ each year while educating people about responsible pet ownership.
Pound Paws held a similar event at the harbourside hotel in 2019 and were so impressed with the amount of doggo love in Newcastle that they’re coming back to do it all again!
The Pound Paws Dog Day will be on at the Honeysuckle Hotel from 12pm on Sunday 9 February.
