PUNKS NOT DEAD: The Exploited to unleash 40 years of chaos on the Small Ballroom…oi, oi, oi!

Get ready to lace up those cherry red 10 holed Doc Martens and start practicing your most ferocious pogo moves.

That’s because no foolin’ UK punk icons The Exploited are heading to the Small Ballroom next year.

The band will hit town on March 22 as part of their 13-date Oz and NZ 40 Years Of Chaos tour.

Responsible for such uncompromising and genre-defining albums as Punks Not Dead, Beat The Bastards and Troops of Tomorrow, the Exploited were well and truly at the forefront of the second wave of British punk.

The now-legendary first wave of punk had pretty much died out as the ’70s gave way to the ’80s.

Sid was dead and the Sex Pistols signed Great Train Robber Ronnie Biggs as their new singer, The Clash were adopting rock star poses, the Damned wanted to be goths, and the Buzzcock’s Pete Shelley bought a synthesizer.

But over in Edinburgh young upstart Wattie Buchan and his mates were seriously pissed off.

Angry at what they saw happening around them – a country in disarray with greedy politicians treating the people like shit; and with Johnny Rotten’s prediction of “No Future” becoming truer by the day, there was only one way forward – embrace the music that had given you so much and give it something back…your entire life!

And so The Exploited was born with their incendiary debut album Punks Not Dead which cut a vicious swathe through the Brit music landscape while it’s titular track became a clarion call for punks from then until now.

Across eight albums, The Exploited have remained steadfastly true to their roots – never selling out, and never bowing down.

They are fiercely socially and politically aware, covering everything from the Criminal Justice Act to the increasing use of Big Brother CCTV and never wavering from their anti-authoritarian, anti-war stance.

Catch The Exploited when they plat at The Small Ballroom on Sunday 22 March 2020.
