PRESS PLAY: Colour and creativity to shine at MAP mima event

Lake Macquarie is set to Press Play on an amazing weekend of events at the Multi-Arts Pavilion, mima, in Speers Point Park.

This year’s Press Play! festival will launch on the evening of Friday, 23 February with an opening night party featuring a kids’ disco, a stack of food offerings from the Friday Night Foodies food trucks, and exhibitions inside the MAP mima space.

Press Play! Will continue on Saturday, 24 February with a free evening art-making event that invites locals to unleash their creativity by crafting a sea creature known as an Antarctic strawberry feather star using recycled materials.

On Sunday, 25 February the festival will conclude with a special performance of Dingo in the Dark by the St Paul’s Catholic College dance group at 10 am. Alongside this performance, children attending can engage in creating their own shadow puppets, adding an interactive element to the show.

Throughout the weekend, Manager of Arts, Culture, and Tourism, Jacqui Hemsley, assure that a variety of self-directed art activities will be available to keep kids entertained and engaged.

“We’ll be activating all the spaces indoors and outside MAP mima to celebrate art in all its forms,” she said.

Press Play! Will take over the Multi-Arts Pavilion, mima, in Speers Point Park for a weekend full of activities from Friday, 23 February. To find out more visit lakemac.com.au/events.
