Newcastle-based pop-up choir One Song Sing will be hitting the road for the first time, for a performance at Shoal Bay Country Club this weekend.

The idea behind the community-focussed musical initiative is that they group will teach you one song, in three-part harmony in just one hour with everyone joining in to perform the song together.

This time around the choir has chosen the uplifting Fleetwood Mac hit Don’t Stop and when it comes to lush harmonies, a better band, or song is hard to find.

The iconic song was part of the sound track of a generation looking for change and inspiration. It launched the successful 1992 presidential campaign of Bill Clinton.

The song itself was one of the bands first hits from their album Rumours. Written by Christine McVie about her divorce from husband and band mate John McVie and featuring lead vocals from the bandโ€™s guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. Itโ€™s about leaving yesterday behind and finding a brighter tomorrow.

A for the choir, One Song Sing has been around since June, 2017 and they kicked off the whole concept Newcastle with the classic Church track, Under The Milky Way.

They have also included Paul Kellyโ€™s How to Make Gravy and the INXS smash hit Never Tear Us Apart.

Choir co-founder Mark Jackson, said the concept brings people together and that one of the biggest complements heโ€™s ever received was a participant leaving the event saying โ€œwasnโ€™t that a rush of endorphinsโ€.

In keeping the community vibe going, Mark will also be running ukulele workshops at Shoal Bay Country Club on Monday 1 April.

One Sing Sing will belt out Don’t Stop at Shoal Bay Country Club on Sunday 31 March. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.To check out what else is happening at Shoal Bay County Club, head toย www.shoalbaycountryclub.com.au
