Police raid Hunter Environment Centre

The Hunter’s leading environmental advocacy group has labelled a police raid on its office on Friday as an ‘overreaction’.

Police say they were investigating illegal protests, which shut down the Port of Newcastle this week. Strike Force Tuohy police were at the Hunter Community Environment Centre on Parry Street where they have seized banners and corflutes as well as documentation.

Board Member Georgina Woods says it was upsetting for her and the hardworking staff who had nothing to do with the blockades.
