Phil Jamieson is bringing his PJ AIR Tour to Newcastle this month, giving fans the chance to hear songs from his upcoming solo album 10CHARLIE live.
The Grinspoon frontman has unveiled Reading Keats In Byron Bay, the third single from his second solo album 10CHARLIE, due for release on 14 August.
The breezy indie rock track pairs crunchy guitars with melodic hooks while exploring more reflective themes, offering another glimpse into an album shaped by personal growth, change and life’s unexpected turbulence.
Originally sparked by a melody recorded into a voice memo while driving, the song evolved through collaboration before finding its place on the new album.
While its bright, summery sound marks a slight shift from previous singles Weekends and Blue As The Sunlight, the lyrics draw on deeply personal experiences, carrying a reminder to embrace life while you can.
The nine-track 10CHARLIE continues the musical journey Jamieson began with his 2022 solo debut, expanding beyond the rock sound that made him famous with Grinspoon.
Named after an aisle seat on a Boeing 737, the album uses the idea of air travel as a metaphor for navigating life’s highs, lows and inevitable moments of uncertainty, blending heartfelt storytelling with warm melodies and thoughtful songwriting.
With more than three decades as one of Australia’s most recognisable rock frontmen, Jamieson has built a reputation for powerful live performances and enduring songwriting.
His solo work has allowed him to explore a more intimate side of his music, creating songs that reflect on grief, resilience and self-discovery while retaining the melodic charm that has long resonated with audiences.
Phil Jamieson brings the PJ AIR Tour to Hamilton Station Hotel in Newcastle on Thursday 30 July. Tickets for the Newcastle show are on sale now via philjamieson.com.au.
