The planned PEP11 project covers 4,500 square kilometres of the ocean from Manly to Newcastle and is designated for fossil fuel exploration and drilling; it has been fiercely contested by communities.
Federal Member for Newcastle Sharon Claydon says that debate on the project was gagged yesterday on a bill to stop the destructive fossil fuel project, despite Prime Minister Scott Morrison having voiced opposition to the project.
