We’re all about local here at Newcastle Live. And at this time of year, if there’s one thing we love more than local, it’s an insiders guide to some of the best items on offer locally for Christmas.
We want to help you find the perfect gift for everyone on your list and what better way to spend your hard-earned dollars than with a local business. No matter your budget, you’re sure to find something for that special someone by browsing our Peninsula City Shopping Guide for Christmas.
Below, you’ll find products from 27 local retailers that we think you are going to love.
SHOP INSTORE: To help you with your next Peninsula City shopping spree we’ve broken our guide into retail precincts across the West End, Darby / Central and Newcastle’s famous East End.
SHOP ONLINE: Just click on the images to link through to the retailer’s Instagram accounts and find out how you can be stuffing your stockings with some of these sweet goods.
Each of our local shopping precincts has something unique to offer, but if we’re honest with ourselves we have a sweet spot for the West End. It’s the home of Newcastle Live HQ and we’ve watched it blossom with creatives and unique stores since our inception. Below you’ll find some classicly Novocastrian retailers and some new faces with great offerings for Christmas.
DARBY & CENTRAL
Darby Street and the City Central precinct have become a mecca for quirky sidewalk cafes, galleries and shops run by locals selling all sorts of goodies, just perfect for Christmas giving. Browsing around the retailers you’d be forgiven for extending your shopping budget as you find more and more things you’ve either always wanted or never knew existed.
It’s the heart of heritage in Newcastle. The East End with the harbour on one side and the sea on the other makes for a pretty special shopping trip. If you’re heading to the East End for a spot of retail therapy this December, we’d suggest a dip in the cool waters of the Newcastle Ocean Baths before, or after, hitting the pavement.
