Paul Dempsey to road test new Something for Kate tunes in Newcastle

Hot on the heels of five sold-out shows at Melbourne’s Gasometer Hotel, Something For Kate frontman Paul Dempsey is making his way to Newcastle!

Paul will be hitting up the Cambridge next month to showcase new material from Something For Kate’s highly anticipated seventh studio album.

“I find that the best way to stop overthinking new songs is to put yourself in the situation where you can’t overthink them anymore,” Paul said.

“You have to deliver them. The stage is the only place to do this. It’s scary and fun and often shows you the way to improve on what you have.”

While the new tunes are to be the focus of this special show, Paul will also be digging into the fecund Something For Kate back catalogue to give some of the classics another airing, as well as some tasty covers.

To add an air of ”looseness” to proceedings, Paul will also be winging it somewhat, taking requests from the audience.

This is not the first time that Paul has road-tested SFK material, having performed under such pseudonyms as Hawaiian Robot, Manmade Horse, and Captain Pinstripe.
