Passport to Airlie band competition applications now open

The Airlie Beach Festival of Music, organisers of the Passport to Airlie Band Competition, are calling on acts to register for the 2024 edition of the

Bands who apply will have the chance to play one of 10 regional comps, including the one hosted right here in Newcastle.

The winner of each regional comp will then get the opportunity to play the final round under the festival’s big tent in November. Each regional winner will also receive four nights of accommodation, three Day VIP Festival Passe and a $1000 performance fee

The overall winner will headline the festival the following year.

“The chance to be on a bill with international stars is once-in-a-lifetime,” Passport to Airlie co-ordinator, Cherrie Hughes said.

“Fresh new acts and established artists can all enter to have this chance plus the opportunity to build experience and networks as well as their opportunity for a spot on the Airlie Beach Festival of Music line-up.”

Last year’s winner, Avalanche, has been touring across the country since taking out the comp, and is now headlining their own shows overseas.

The band are one of many great bands on this year’s Airlie Beach Festival of Music lineup with also includes acts like Thirsty Merc and Jebediah.
