Iconic Aussie ice cream brand Streets is doing its bit to raise awareness of the plight of our nation’s koalas whose populations were decimated in the recent bushfires.
And to get the word out, they’re doing what they do best by tempting the nation’s taste buds with a new iced confection.
Yep that’s right from this week, you can grab yourself a Koala Paddle Pop and before you start wrinkling your nose at the thought of a Eucalyptus-flavoured treat, relax. This one is an enticing choc-caramel flavour.
The launch is part of a two-year partnership between Streets and wildlife rescue organisation WIRES that will see the ice cream brand support three WIRES projects – the construction of Koala Rehabhilitation Facilities, a Koala Health Hub at the University of Sydney and the Water Drinkers Project – an initiative to install 800x220L water drinkers in areas most impacted by the fires and drought.
“We’re a local brand, who want to ensure we’re doing our part for our local heroes,” Paddle Pop brand manager Annie Lucchitti said.
“We wanted to create our new Koala Paddle Pop to help raise awareness of koala conservation among Aussie families – and what better way to support these cuddly creatures than with an ice cream in your hand,”
The Koala Paddle Pop is available from Monday 7 September at convenience stor3es and petrol stations across the country and are expected to be available at Coles and IGA by the end of the month
