The Osman is back with his weekly post. This week, amongst other things, he’s talking about the bands Mirrabooka and Top Cat, Kurri Kurri’s Kirsty Lee Akers and the Battle Of The Bands at The Coast Hotel.

This week’s program, Ossie And Friends (Lake Macquarie FM 97.3 Wednesday 6pm till 9pm) is proudly sponsored by VIBES Australia which is held at The Coast Hotel at Budgewoi each Thursday Night. We will kick off the program tonight with a chat on the phone with Kiwi Country Music artist, Aly Cook. Aly would be one of New Zealand’s most well known Country Music Stars who regularly frequents our shores. Aly’s current album, Horsehoe Rodeo Hotel has produced some beauties, including Midnight Cowboys, Message In A Cloud and the beautiful song Kimberely, a tribute to Australia’s Kimberelys. We will be chatting with Aly about what she has been up to and what is coming up and we will play several of her tracks. Check her out on Facebook @alycookmusic.

Then, Kurri Kurri’s Kirsty Lee Akers will be on the phone to fill us in on her latest and newly released single, “I Will”. This song is so personal and special to Kirsty Lee, tonight we will find out a little more. Kirsty Lee is very excited about the release of the music video to accompany the song. The release day is this coming Friday, August 19. We will also play “I Will” tonight. Check out more about Kirsty Lee Akers on Facebook @KirstyLeeAkers.

Guests in the studio tonight will be the bands Mirrabooka and Top Cat.

Mirrabooka is a 4 piece band bringing together the talents of two married couples and play sweet original tunes and popular hits. Liz and Rob Kitney along with Rosemary and Glenn Ewing make up this unique band that uses many different instruments to bring to your ears some delightful sounds. Mirrabooka is also heavily involved in the Central Coast Ukelele Club and the upcoming festival in September and have also just released a brand new album River Of Dreams, containing 16 tracks of varying genres. We will be giving away a copy of the album tonight to a lucky listener. Your ears will enjoy the live performance in the studio tonight as well. Check out more on Facebook @mirrabookaband. Their visit is brought to you by Cardiff Golf Driving Range.

Music Solutions Warners Bay proudly supports our next guest’s visit to the studio, Top Cat. This band is another from the Central Coast that contains loving couple, Jacky Hall and Andy Fox. The pair is accompanied by Vanessa Adams and Michael Dalton making up Top Cat. The band can play as a duo, trio or even extend to a 5 piece band. Top Cat also have a brand new album out, There’s A Law Against That. We will play a couple of tracks from the album and give away a few copies to some lucky listeners. Top Cat will also be performing live in the studio. Check out more about Top Cat via their Facebook Page @officialtopcatband.

A little reminder about the Battle Of The Bands at The Coast Hotel at Budgewoi. The “Battle” will run on Friday Nights, commencing August 26, with the Grand Final on Friday September 23. There is over $5,000 worth of cash and prizes to be won, with some fun giveaways on the nights.
