THE OSMAN: Aly Cook. Little Quirks Band & more…

This week’s program, Ossie And Friends (Lake Macquarie FM 97.3 Wednesday 6pm till 9pm) is proudly sponsored by VIBES Australia which is held at The Coast Hotel at Budgewoi each Thursday Night.

We will kick off the program tonight with a phoner with our good friend, ALY COOK, our Kiwi mate from Nelson, brought to you by Springfest 2, which is a festival of fine food, beer and music being held at Hinton on October 15. It is quite fitting that Aly is brought to you by Springfest 2 as she has been very busy a an Event Manager, running Snapafest as well as the  Battle of Trafalgar 2 with Wellington Phoenix and the Central Coast Mariners. Aly will fill us in on those events.

Aly is also one of 30 Finalists in the NEXT Woman of the Year, my goodness, how does she have time for her music.

Speaking of her music, her beautiful song Kimberley has just shot back up to No.2 on the Australian Top 40 Country Music Tracks Chart. Tonight we will hear a couple of Aly’s songs from her album, Horseshoe Rodeo Hotel, including Kimberley, plus a nice one from her album Brand New Day.

Our second guest is the LITTLE QUIRKS BAND which is brought to you by Music Solutions at Warners Bay, a music store run by musicians.

This band is made up of three very young ladies, Abbey (vocals/guitar), Jaymi (vocals/mandolin) and Mia (drums). This is a real family affair, Abbey and Mia are sisters and Jaymi is their cousin.

The LITTLE QUIRKS spend a lot of time busking around venues on the Central Coast and performing at markets and festivals, bringing a fresh bluesy sound to the ears of those attending. The girls are very proud to announce the release of their EP as well, you will hear them play some “live” songs for us and we will play some from the EP.

Our third guest tonight, PHIL DOUBLET, another of our Kiwi friends, joins us via the telephone for a chat and his chat is brought to you by Cardiff Golf Driving Range, Cardiff.

Phil’s first album, “Stone & Wood”, earned him New Zealand Country Music Association Male Artist of the year in 2014. Phil is a singer/songwriter from Christchurch in New Zealand and is often regarded as a “country artist”, however, Phil’s new album coming out , Endless Highway, encompasses a broad spectrum of genres from folk to rock.
His offering on the program tonight is a track called “Keep You Hangin’ ‘round”, a catchy country anthem from the album.

CENTRAL COAST UKULELE FESTIVAL

What a weekend that was on the Central Coast. Congratulations to the organisers and to the artists. I will be introducing a new weekly program on my Internet Radio Station, Aussie Ossie Radio, devoted to the bands and music featuring the Ukulele. Musos are invited to send their music in to have it played on the station. Send in your music via MP3 to email theosmanshow@hotmail.com or message me there to make arrangements to send CDs.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS

The Battle Of The Bands at The Coast Hotel at Budgewoi saw Newcastle youngsters, SOUTHERN END, take out the Final last Friday Night. The Heat 1 winners returned, with an advantage of the knowledge that they were in the Final and showed what they could do after 4 weeks of rehearsals.
With Aussie Ossie Radio, we have regular weekly programs, including Locals Only on a Monday Night which presents 3 hours of music from bands and artists from the Central Coast/Lake Macquarie/Newcastle areas. Locals’ music is also played throughout the week in various playlists on the station. Some other programs are Pedal To The Metal (Metal Show) 10pm on Thursdays, This Is Australia (60s, 70s, 80’s) 11am on Saturdays, High Noon Country on Sundays at 12noon and Blues and Roots on Sunday Night from 8.30pm

Musos are most welcome to send their music in to have it played on Aussie Ossie Radio and if you are local and would like to come to the Lake Macquarie FM 97.3 studios on a Wednesday Night to be part of that program, simply make contact via the Facebook Pages and we can book you in, We are currently booked out until late September, so get in as soon as possible to secure your spot.
