Olive Tree Market to launch virtual platform next week!

After dipping its toes in cyberspace back in May, the Olive Tree Market is set to make its mark online.

The ever-popular Newcastle market will launch the Olive Tree Virtual Market Platform with the inaugural online-only market on Saturday 24 October.

Much like the physical iteration, the Olive Tree Virtual Market will feature an eclectic array of creatives with many special offers and discounts available on the day only.

The virtual market will also offer increased interactive and participation opportunities for visitors including increased numbers of live Q and A interviews with participating artists and live music from local musos.

“This innovative new Website Platform will provide the local creative community with new opportunities during the re-building phase of COVID-19, and beyond, which continues to heavily impact the creative community.,” Olive Tree founder Justine Gaudry said.

“The project will be delivered in stages with the new website and Virtual Market launching on October 24th.”

It is also expected that the virtual platform will include new income-generating opportunities, capacity building and educational workshops for our local creative community.

Existing customers, supporters, and new online audiences will be encouraged to buy local online, and to re-connect and forge ongoing connections with creatives.

Oh and best of all,. 100% of all sales are taken by the participating creative small businesses!

“Our test case Virtual Market in May was a highly successful event for our artists, makers and designer, with a large amount of the support from the local Newcastle community, and we were really excited by the engagement and sales that came from all around Australia from supporters who have both visited the Olive Tree Market and love to connect and buy from the Australia maker community,” Justine said.

Jacquie Garcia from Leiluca Ceramics, who participated in the test virtual market, said the concept had proviedes quite a boost to business.

“The Olive Tree Market Virtual Market boosted our presence online and reached out to a large audience to interact with our websites and social media platforms,” she said.

“This market was extremely successful for my business as I took 71 orders within the 9am-4pm time allocated for the market. Many of my orders were posted interstate which is so exciting for me as it has expanded my customer base.”
