NUTCRACKER REMIXED: A Christmas tradition with a twist hits Lake Mac in December

This Christmas Lake Mac will create a new tradition for local families when The Nutcracker Remixed hits the stage at the Multi-Arts Pavilion (MAP mima).

The show takes the traditional Tchaikovsky ballet and turns it on its head with modern music, dance and a stack of festive laughs thrown in for good measure.

A massive cast of local performers, including the queen of the Hunter Drag Scene Timberlina, will take audiences on a rollicking ride, thanks to a faulty GPS, including detours through Whoville and Arendelle before diving into a magical Land Of Snow and Sweets.

Queen of the Hunter Drag Scene, Timberlina will take to the stage as part of the production which in two of the show’s Madam Ginger

“The show appealed to me as not only is it a spirited Christmas production. It also showcases cultural diversity, tackles learning difficulty and spreads a message of inclusion woven throughout the storyline,” Tim Jackson, AKA Timberlina, said.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring the Lake Macquarie community together at Christmas and also a wonderful gift for young performers to be a part of something special.”

The creative team behind the production included a lineup of local choreographers, vocal coaches and drama tutors, making it a truly community-based performance.

“It was extremely important to us to have as many performing arts professionals from the region contributing to the production as a true community effort from our creative team to our cast members,” Creative Director, Louise Wilkinson said.

The Nutcracker Remixed will take over the MAP mima Multi Arts complex on 16 and 17 December with shows at 4 pm and 7 pm each day. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit
