Nollsie on lawn mowers, fish tacos & Australian Idol

Shannon Noll plays Wests New Lambton on Friday, 23 November. Tickets on sale now!

Shannon Noll is unbroken. No matter what’s thrown at him, he keeps delivering. From songs that spear right into the heart of middle Australia to electric live gigs that showcase his undeniable vocal ability and showmanship. Trust us, if you’ve never seen a Shannon Noll show, the crowd are in the palm of his hand.

We caught up with the man himself ahead of his show at Wests New Lambton on Friday, 23 November.

NL: What have been your favourite songs to play live off your latest album Unbroken?

NOLLSIE: I love playing Southern Sky and Who I Am… the crowd goes off with them and we get to have a lot of fun with them on stage.

NL: What was it like to work with Craig Porteils again? What do you think he brings to the songs you work on together?

NOLLSIE: He is great to collaborate with, he really understands music and what the big picture is that an artist wants to achieve, I really enjoy the process with Craig.

NL: What do you think is the biggest misconception about your career?

NOLLSIE: Probably that Australian Idol is my career or that shows like that limit you. Australian Idol was an amazing opportunity for me and launched my career, without it I reckon I might still be farming somewhere. It’s a great platform but you have to work hard to maintain that career and I think a lot of people don’t realise how much work artists have to do to have a ‘career’, its a lot more than just turning up for a show.

NL: We invite you to a party and you have to cook a dish to share. What do you bring?

NOLLSIE: Fish Tacos for sure!

NL: You’ve embraced the meme culture around your social media. Has someone come to pick up the lawnmower yet?

NOLLSIE: Ha, yeah I actually had to give it back to a mate after I outed myself for the extended loan there, but I do have a brand new Victa on the way myself – so it’s not all that bad.
