Newcastle vegos and vegans will be celebrating this week with the arrival of the city’s FIRST EVER late-night plant-based diner.
Yep, that’s right! From Wednesday 3 June, the kitchen at the Family Hotel will be rebranded to Pino’s Diner and will offer takeaway, delivery and limited dine-in from 5pm to late!
The concept is the brainchild of the good folks over at popular Islington “Italian-ish” vegan restaurant Pino’s and will be a more permanent fixture at the Newcastle West pub after a successful collaboration back in March.
And while fervent meat-eaters might argue that vegan cuisine consists of nothing but salads, tofu, TVP and nutmeat, Pino’s Diner (along with the increasing array of awesome vegan options in Newy – Vego’s et al) are putting paid to that stereotype with a menu that would tempt even the staunchest of carnivors.
You can expect an array of burgers, such as their take on the iconic Big Mac, hawt dogs and even that staple of swimming carnivals Australia-wide – the Pluto Pup.
Add to that an array of dessert fare such as soft-serve cones, spiders, banoffee-Oreo Splits and Blueberry Doughnut Sundaes (YUM) and you’ve got yourself a menu to write home about.
If that wasn’t enough, there are also a few extra surprises that we just CAN’T WAIT to sample, including the Buffalo Cauli Wings, Chilli-Cheese Corn Ribs with Popcorn Salad and San Choy Bao Cheeseburger Springrolls.
Yes, you read right. San Choy Bao Cheeseburger Springrolls!
Pino’s Diner is located at the Family Hotel (635 Hunter St, Newcastle). Head here for more info!
