Newy’s best gig posters to feature in upcoming exhibition at Newcastle Art Gallery

Newcastle Art Gallery is on the hunt for the best local gig posters this town has ever seen.

The gallery will be delving deep into the mysterious behind-the-scenes world of live performance with an upcoming exhibition titled We Can Be Heroes: A Backstage Pass that will feature a “Locals Only” poster wall.

So, all you have to do is email a high-res version of a poster from the most epic local gig or featuring your favourite local band here by no later than 5pm on Monday 12 October.

Gig pigs are also encouraged to hit the gallery’s Facebook page and tag your favourite venues, bands and artists to spread this word far and wide.

The only rule is that the poster must be from a local show.

The We Can Be Heroes: Backstage Pass exhibition which kicks off in November, aims to celebrate the relationship between photographer and musician, through rarely seen touring images, backstage portraits and envy-inducing shots from the stage offering perspectives that audiences rarely get to experience.

It also shines a spotlight on individual stories that highlight similarities between international superstars and burgeoning talents looking to achieve their dream of becoming musical heroes

The We Can Be Heroes: A Backstage Pass exhibition is on at Newcastle Art Gallery from Saturday 14 November to Sunday 14 February 2021. Head here for more information.
