When it comes to an iconic night out in Newcastle, most people think of restaurants, bars or live music venues with water views. But one local operator is proving some of the city’s most memorable entertainment experiences are taking place on the water itself.
Over the past year, All Event Cruises has transformed its flagship vessel, the MV Calmer, into a floating entertainment venue, offering a growing calendar of themed dining cruises, live music events, tribute parties and massive celebrations.
All Event Cruises’ Operations Manager, Emily, says the concept reflects a growing appetite for experience-driven events that combine great food and entertainment.
“We’ve found that people are looking for experiences rather than simply a night out,” Emily told Newcastle Live.
“Guests want something they can share with friends, celebrate with family, or enjoy as a couple that feels completely different from a restaurant, pub or club.”
Rather than simply offering sightseeing cruises, the company has focused on creating immersive events that celebrate both Newcastle Harbour and the Hunter region. The calendar includes international-themed Date Night Cruises, cultural dining experiences, and food-and-wine events featuring local produce, giving guests a fresh perspective on the city while enjoying unique entertainment.
A major part of that approach has been working with Hunter businesses to create collaborative events. Partnerships with Peter Drayton Wines, First Creek Wines, Earp Distilling Co., Nagisa Japanese Restaurant and the Newcastle Fishermen’s Co-Op have helped showcase the region’s food, wine and hospitality industries in a setting unlike any traditional venue.
“Newcastle and the Hunter have incredible food, wine, beer and hospitality operators, and bringing them together on the harbour allows us to create experiences that simply can’t happen anywhere else.”
