After being disrupted due to COVID-19 Newcastle Writers Festival has announced its return in April 2022.
Now in its 10th year, the 2022 festival will see more than 100 local and interstate writers, some of who were included in the recently postponed program, visit Newcastle in April for the three-day event.
Rosemarie Milsom, the festival director, said she is confident that high rates of vaccination will enable the 2022 event to go ahead.
“By April it will have been three years since our last live festival in 2019, which is hard to believe,” she said.
“Navigating the COVID crisis has been stressful and challenging. That we’ve continued to engage audiences and pay writers is testament to the level of support from government funders, sponsors, donors, and the wider community.”
The first round of guest artist announcements will be made on 3 December with the program launching on 3 March 2022.
The Newcastle Writers Festival will take place 1 – 3 April 2022. Tickets will go on sale on 4 March. There will also be a number of free sessions.
