Vintage aircraft to take to the skies over Newcastle this November

Vintage aircraft will soar over the city as part of the Newcastle Williamtown Air Show this November.

City of Newcastle has teamed up with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) to host the highly anticipated Air Show this year, promising a jaw-dropping experience for spectators of all ages.

Newcastle’s Lord Mayor, Nuatali Nelmes, emphasized that this spectacular community event is an absolute must-attend. It offers a diverse range of attractions, catering to the interests of both passionate aviation enthusiasts and families seeking an enjoyable weekend getaway.

“Newcastle’s spectacular coastline will be on display for tens of thousands of visitors to see all the action over Newcastle Harbour, Nobbys Beach, Foreshore Park and Stockton,” Newcastle Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes said

“Attracting major events of this calibre is a testament to Newcastle’s growth as a world-class event and cultural city and indicative of a thriving local economy.

“Newcastle continues to shine as a destination and we look forward to welcoming locals and visitors to both air displays on Saturday 18 November and showcasing the diversity of what our city has to offer including its rich heritage, natural scenery and vibrant cultural scene.”

Spectacular Displays and Flypasts

With almost one hundred thousand spectators expected to line Newcastle Harbour, aviation fanatics can anticipate thrilling aerial displays and captivating flypasts. The action will begin with a RAAF aircraft flying display giving visitors a rare opportunity to witness the prowess of RAAF aircraft up close.

Aerial Showcases and Heritage Marvels

Prepare to be awed by formation and aerial displays featuring an array of heritage and vintage aircraft, including the Harvard, Winjeel, Spitfire, Mustang, and Canberra. And that’s not all; you can also look forward to flypasts from F/A-18F, EF/A-18G Super Hornet, and the Growler.

Family-Friendly Festival Atmosphere

The City of Newcastle is rolling out the welcome mat with free viewing areas at Nobbys Beach, Foreshore Park, and Stockton. These prime vantage points will not only provide incredible views but also offer family-friendly activities, creating a festival atmosphere for the entire community to enjoy.

Convenient Access and Premium Viewing

For those seeking convenience, a Park and Ride facility will operate from McDonald Jones Stadium, with parking available at Stockton within easy walking distance to the best viewing spots. Additionally, there’s a ticketed premium viewing area at Fort Scratchley, the only licensed viewing site for both air shows. While enjoying the spectacle, patrons aged 18 and above can choose from a variety of food and beverage options available for purchase. Tickets for this premium experience are on sale now.
