Roller Derby fans should mark Saturday the 19th of September in their diaries. Newcastle Roller Derby League is back for another hardhitting, fastpaced event at the Newcastle Exhibition Centre.
Two teams of local skaters will battle it out in the second last home game for the local derby for the 2015 season.
People attending the event are being asked to bring along donations of new children’s books to be collected on behalf of community project Befriend a Child in Detention. The project aims to encourage Australians to make positive connections with child asylum seekers and their families living in detention. The books give the children opportunity to learn and grow, while also providing welcome distraction from their current living conditions.
Tickets for the game can be pre-purchased from newcastlerollerderby.org.au, or bought at the door on the day. Doors will open at 6pm for a 7pm start.
