Lace-up your skates and get ready for the return of the Newcastle Roller Derby League’s home team season!
The 2023 season promises to be action-packed with six games throughout the year, leading up to the grand final event in October.
To kick things off this, as the reigning champions, the Bogey Rollers are ready to defend their title this weekend against the tough competition from the Fort Smashleys and the Harbour Hellcats.
“We love what we do and always look forward to sharing that with our fans,” League representative Zoe Llewellyn said.
“We are so fortunate to be able to bring another amazing season of roller derby to Newcastle.”
And the fans are just as excited, and fortunate, to see their favourite teams back in action.
For the uninitiated, roller derby is a high-energy sport that combines speed, strategy, and athleticism.
The skaters wear protective gear and race around a track while trying to score points by passing members of the opposing team. It’s a thrilling experience that’s not to be missed!
You can check it all out this Saturday, 25 March, at the Newcastle Showgrounds Exhibition Centre in Broadmeadow. Doors will open at 6 pm, with the game starting at 6:30 pm sharp.
